Pneumococcal disease causes thousands of infections such as meningitis, bloodstream infections, pneumonia and ear infections. Approximately 1.5 million deaths across the globe were caused by Pneumococcal diseases in 2015. Currently, there are two different vaccine to protect against pneumococcal diseases. However, there is a need for a better vaccine to protect against additional strains of these bacteria.
Rochester Clinical Research is currently enrolling generally healthy individuals over the age of 18 years old for a vaccine research study. This study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the study vaccine that may protect against a greater number of strains of pneumococcal disease. This study will last approximately 6 months, with 2-3 visits to our office (depending on your age group). Compensation for time and travel may be available up to $50 per visit for those who qualify.
- Between the ages of 18 - 80 years old
- Generally Healthy
- Has never received a pneumococcal vaccine in the past
