About the Study
Lyme disease is an emerging, tick-borne disease. It can cause a rash and flu like symptoms. Untreated Lyme disease can produce a wide range of symptoms, depending on the stage of infection. These can include fever, rash, facial paralysis and arthritis with severe joint pain and swelling.
Prevention of Lyme disease will help reduce the lifetime complications the disease may bring if the disease is not caught early enough. In the Northeast, especially New York State, Lyme disease has increased steadily over the past 25 years, according to the CDC. It has become the most commonly reported vector borne illness in the United States.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of an investigational Lyme disease vaccine. This study will be conducted over a 12 month period with 8 in-person visits to our office.
