About the study
HSV-2 or the herpes simplex virus, is the infection that causes genital herpes. Genital herpes is a common sexually transmitted disease that any sexually active person can get. According to the CDC more than 1 in every 6 people aged 14 to 49 years in the United States have genital herpes.
Currently there is no approved vaccine to prevent genital herpes.
The purpose of this study will be to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a vaccine to prevent genital herpes. This study will last approximately 15 months with 11 visits to our office.
Study related care is available to participants at no cost and health insurance is not required nor needed. Compensation for time and travel is available to those who qualify.
- Between the ages of 18-40 years old
- Cannot have any history of HSV-2 infection, genital or cold sores.
- Generally healthy
