Matthew Davis, MD
Family Practice, Medical Director
Dr. Davis has been a Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator on more than 500 clinical research studies over the last 20 years. Previously, he was Chief Physician for the after-hours medical care division of a Rochester health care provider. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1981, received his MD from The University of Rochester in 1986, and went on to complete family medicine residency at UPMC in 1989. Dr. Davis served three years as a physician on active duty with the USAF during the Persian Gulf War. He returned to Rochester in 1992 and has worked in primary care, emergency medicine, and clinical research. Dr. Davis is board-certified in family medicine, and is a member of The American Academy of Family Physicians and the Monroe County Medical Society.
Tammi Shlotzhauer, MD
Rheumatology & Internal Medicine, Assistant Medical Director
Dr. Shlotzhauer, a practicing rheumatologist, is board-certified in both internal medicine and rheumatology. She has participated in over 185 clinical trials and has consulted with partners on protocol development. She is partner, with Dr. Pryhuber, in a successful rheumatology practice, located in our building. Her interests include osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, collagen vascular disorders, pain syndromes and common internal medicine diagnoses.
Joseph J. Mann, MD recently joined the RCR organization after retiring from the Greater Rochester Neurological Associates at the end of 2016. He completed 40 years of clinical practice in Neurology with a strong subspecialty practice in Headache Medicine. He is a member of the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry and has a subspecialty certification for Headache Medicine through the United Council of Neurological Subspecialties. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Headache Society. He was awarded the Headache Healthcare Practitioner of the Year for 2016 by the National Headache Foundation.
Mary has been a physician assistant for over 40 years. She graduated from Ithaca College with a BS in Physical Therapy and received a certificate (now a Masters equivalent) from Yale University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program.
Mary previously worked at the Wilson Health Center (Rochester, New York) internal medicine department for 20 years and then joined Doctor’s Tom Roberts and William Rolls in their internal medicine practice. She retired from that practice after 20 years in July of 2016 and joined Rochester Clinical Research to pursue her interest in clinical research. She has a special interest in musculoskeletal medicine, vaccine studies and women’s health.
Mervyn Weerasinghe, MD
Internal Medicine, Consultant
With over 15 years experience conducting research, Dr. Weerasinghe has been Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator on more than 400 clinical research studies. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and has extensive practice experience in managed care settings. He was the Medical Director of an HMO for eight years, the Medical Director of a hospital for seven years and the Medical Director of a multi-specialty group practice for 10 years. He has served as Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator in the areas of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia, asthma, osteoarthritis, hormone replacement therapy, smoking cessation, peptic ulcer disease and contraception.
Adam joined Rochester Clinical Research in 2001. His love of people, quick wit and ebullient personality make him a natural for developing business relationships with partners and the community. Adam is responsible for strategic marketing and business development, and contributes significantly to the corporate strategic plan.
Patricia Larrabee, RNNP, CCRC
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Pat founded Rochester Clinical Research in 1994 to provide residents of the Greater Rochester area with access to research studies. She has been a Sub-Investigator in over 450 clinical trials over 26 years, building on her clinical experience as a researcher and lecturer on high blood pressure, and her work with local physicians in managed care settings. Pat’s limitless energy, compassion and attention to detail have accounted for much of RCR’s success.
Therese Dayton, RN, CCRC
Director of Nursing and Operations
Therese has worked at Rochester Clinical Research for over twelve years, after thirteen years as a labor and delivery nurse. She enjoys the fast pace of research and guiding studies from start to finish. She loves seeing our volunteers return time and time again because of the great care they receive.
Laura joined Rochester Clinical Research in 2009 as a Research Assistant. Since then she has been promoted to Director of Business Operations where she reviews and oversees all trial budgets, directs contract negotiation, and performs the human resources role as needed.
Director of Quality Initiatives
Brendan joined Rochester Clinical Research in 2016, and was formerly a Lean & Continuous Improvement (ABS) Engineer for a local manufacturing company. Brendan graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS/ME in Industrial Engineering, Sustainable Engineering.
Joe joined Rochester Clinical Research in November of 2015. He graduated from St. John Fisher College with a degree in Business Management and has over 5 years of marketing experience. Prior to us, Joe served as a Marketing Manager for Logical Operations, and worked in media buying with Butler/Till Media Services.
Clinical Research Coordinators
Jaclyn Zona, RN, CCRC
Jaclyn joined RCR in 2014, after working at Unity Hospital in the recovery room and medical units. Jaclyn has a bachelor’s degree in wellness management and health education.
Kathleen Ebeling, RN, CCRC
Kathleen joined Rochester Clinical Research in 2012 after working at the Episcopal group home. She has a BA in psychology and an MBA, in addition to being a Registered Nurse.
Victoria Fink, MPH, RD, CDE, CCRC
Vicky is entering her eleventh year with RCR. As a registered dietitian, she coordinates weight loss trials, and has also coordinated medical device, healthy volunteer and vaccine studies. Vicky achieved certification as a research coordinator in the summer of 2010.
Deb Hodges, RN
Deb joined Rochester Clinical Research in 2016 and comes to us from Hurlbut Care communities where she was responsible for infection control. Deb attended Genesee Community College, graduating with an Associates Degree in Nursing and then went on for her RN certification.
Julie Mooney, RN
Julie started working at Rochester Clinical Research in December 2015 after working in the recovery room at a Rochester hospital. She received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Monroe Community College in 2008 and her BSN from SUNY Brockport in 2011. Her medical interests are surgery and working on research centered on learning about the medicine and medical devices of the future.
Sally Cardella, RN, CCRC (Per Diem)
Sally has been a Clinical Research Coordinator at Rochester Clinical Research for over ten years. She has many interests, including her dog, music and reading—she is active in an informal book club, and on Goodreads, an international book club on the web.
Kim Indovina, RN (Per Diem)
Kim began working at Rochester Clinical Research in 2009, first as a per diem nurse, and then as a Study Coordinator. She started nursing at Highland Hospital in 2005, working as a labor and delivery nurse. She enjoys the challenges of research and knowing that she is part of advancing medicine while changing lives. Kim has a particular interest in diabetes studies, as many members of her family have the disease.
Christine Kelly, RN, CCRC (Per Diem)
Christine is now at Rochester Clinical Research occasionally, on a per diem basis, after having working here for over twelve years. She nursed at Genesee Hospital for many years in the Emergency Room and Labor and Delivery. She enjoys working with weight loss patients, helping them to successfully meet weight loss goals. Chris says that, above all, she loves learning new things.
Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Coordinator
Kerry joined the Rochester Clinical Research team in 2012 as an Administrative Assistant has since elevated herself into the position of Regulatory & Corporate Affairs Coordinator. Kerry’s work ethic and attention to detail has proven her to be an invaluable asset in her new role.
Deb joined Rochester Clinical Research in 2008 after working at Strong Memorial Hospital for more than a decade, and later at Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield. She enjoys telling volunteers about the exciting and varied research opportunities at Rochester Clinical Research, and pre-screening them.
Jane has joined Rochester Clinical Research in 2007 after seven years at the Lattimore Community Surgicenter, an ambulatory surgery facility. She loves the telephone interactions with RCR volunteers.
